Rock Bay Landing

Victoria, B.C.

Victoria Cool Aid Society’s Rock Bay Shelter in Victoria will provide 83 shelter beds, 23 self-contained transitional housing units, and two family shelter units for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  The new five-storey concrete development will also include amenity space, an enclosed courtyard for tenant use and office space for counseling and support services.  The project called for a solar hot water thermal energy system to provide energy efficiency for the shelter.  AME designed a 26 evacuated tube solar collector system which will ensure the facility remains sustainable well into the future. Other sustainable features include: aerothermal heat pumps and a geoexchange system which provides higher year-round efficiency.
